MW3

MW3

The Campaign: This game was the 3rd installment in the Modern warfare series that came out in 2011, it was developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. This campaign continued the story of Captain Price, and “Soap” MacTavish along with a new member named Yuri and 4 other new characters called Sandman, Grinch, Truck, and the other playable character in this campaign, Frost. The main antagonist in this game is a man named Makarov, who is essentially a terrorist and wants to destroy the U.S. The first mission has you trying to fight your way through a destroyed NYC and your objective is to get to a Stock Exchange building that is filled with enemies. Once you get to the building you have to get to the roof of the building, once there, you plant a thermite charge to destroy a jammer. Afterwards, you board a chopper and as you try to make your way to the rendezvous point, you see that there are three enemy “birds” in the air so your job is to be the gunner and shoot them down. Soon after, the first campaign mission ends. This campaign mission was a bad way to start off the campaign since it had nothing to do with the main storyline of the campaign. The campaign mission was overall pretty boring, the objective of the mission seemed like a cliche and it was just not a good start to the campaign. However, the rest of the campaign made it up by having some pretty awesome missions. In other missions, you, playing as Yuri, fight through Paris trying to find Makarov’s bomb-maker Volk, you also fight Russians with the Eiffel Tower in the background and it ends up being destroyed. and in one of the saddest missions in the Modern Warfare series, you try to kill Makarov but it ends up backfiring and in the process, Soap saves you but dies because he bled out to death. This caused one of the saddest and most back-chilling scenes in COD history.

The final mission of this campaign has you finally playing as Captain Price, something COD fans had wanted for a long time. Like in MW2s last mission, you have only one objective, and that is to kill Makarov. As you fight through a hotel killing hundreds of enemies. You finally see Makarov trying to run, you and Yuri try to chase him but a chopper shoots through the hotel and Yuri is stabbed with a knife in the process. Yuri tells you to leave him behind, thus you run to catch Makarov and you see him getting on a helicopter attenpting to leave, but you jump and grab the leg of the helicopter, you kill the pilot and the person in the seat beside and the plane crashes. After you regain consciousness, you see a pistol and so does Makarov, you both try to grab it but he gains the upper hand, with the gun in his hand he utters the words “Goodbye, Captain Price.” You think its over, that you fail the mission but Yuri comes and shoots Makarov in the shoulder injuring him but afterwards Makarov kills Yuri. As he is distracted, you as Captain Price, knock him to the ground and wrap a rope around his neck, you fall through a glass floor and that is where Makarov meets his demise, he was hanged. Some low music starts playing in the background and then Captain Price being the badass that he is, lights up a cigar and smoke it. That concluded the campaign to MW3 and probably to the whole Modern Warfare series. This campaign had its ups and downs but it ended the series with a bang.
